Client reflections

A few words from people I've supported

Julie has been a pillar of support, helping to unpack and navigate some gnarly situations, and in doing so has helped me get to a much better place than I was at a year ago. Julie's approach is more grounded than similar engagements I've had in the past - I get the feeling that she is getting a full and genuine understanding of me, which I believe is the core of how she gets results.

WGW. G.Client

I have been working with Julie for just under two years, and I can honestly say she has provided a light during some very dark times. From the moment we started, Julie has been incredibly patient, warm, and understanding. Julie is exceptional because she challenges me in all the right ways, she encourages growth and deeper insight, but she never pushes or forces me to discuss things I'm not ready to approach. I am so grateful for her skill and genuine support.

JFJ. F.Client

Halcyon Counselling helped me manage an overwhelming crash between deep grief after a death, challenging fertility treatments and wider family dysfunction. Julie was skilled, steady, and compassionate, while also being gently challenging when I needed guidance to move forward. She helped me untangle and navigate emotions with practical coping strategies and thoughtful insights that I would never have reached on my own. I cannot recommend her skills enough - I'm still seeing layers and unpacking some of those insights even a year later.

Common questions

Things people often ask before getting in touch

It's an informal 20-minute phone call — no forms, no commitment. We'll talk about what brings you to counselling and what you hope for, and you can ask me anything. If it doesn't feel like the right fit, that's completely okay.

Yes. What you share stays between us, within the ethical framework of the BACP. The rare legal exceptions to confidentiality are explained clearly in our first session, so there are never surprises.

There's no fixed number — it depends on you and what you're working through. Some people find a few sessions enough; others value longer-term support. We review regularly together, and you're always in control.

We meet by secure video call or phone, at a regular time that suits you — all you need is a private, comfortable space. It works just as well as meeting in person, and clients join me from across the UK and internationally.

Absolutely. Most people feel nervous at first — that's natural. There's nothing you need to prepare or get right. We go at your pace, and you only ever share what you feel ready to share.
