How I can help

When perinatal counselling can help

Antenatal & postnatal anxiety

Worry that won't switch off, low mood, or feeling flat when you expected to feel happy.

Birth trauma

Making sense of a birth that felt frightening, out of control or not the way you imagined.

Adjusting to parenthood

Feeling you've lost a bit of yourself. Everyone else seems to be coping better than you. Perhaps feeling the strain on your relationship.

Pregnancy after loss

Finding your footing in a new pregnancy when memories of a previous loss are still prominent.

My approach

How counselling helps

Perinatal counselling helps you feel supported and understood as you navigate pregnancy, birth and the transition to parenthood. Together we can manage anxiety, depression or mood changes, process birth experiences, and build coping strategies for stress, overwhelm and identity shifts.

A pregnancy after miscarriage or baby loss can trigger especially complex emotions — fear of recurrence, or guilt over moving forward. Counselling provides an opportunity to work through the grief, honour your baby and appreciate your unique journey to parenthood.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Anxiety, low mood and depression are common during pregnancy and after birth, and you don't have to simply push through them. Pregnancy, especially after a difficult fertility journey, can throw up all sorts of questions and fears, quite apart from the huge physical changes you are experiencing. As new parents you can feel a pressure to be doing everything 'right' and to feel eternally grateful for your baby, which can make it difficult to admit if you are finding parenthood hard, relentless or less than enjoyable! Counselling gives you a space where you can speak openly, make sense of what you're feeling and build practical ways to cope.

Yes. A birth that felt traumatic, frightening or out of control can leave a lasting emotional mark. In counselling we can work through what happened, at your own pace, to move to a place of healing and acceptance.

Yes. Pregnancy after miscarriage or baby loss often brings a difficult mix of hope and fear. I offer gentle, understanding support to help you hold that uncertainty, without letting it overwhelm you and to find strategies to ensure you care for yourself throughout.

No. You don't need a diagnosis or a referral to access perinatal counselling — you're welcome to get in touch directly for a free 20-minute consultation. However, counselling can work well alongside other support you may be accessing from your GP.

You don't have to navigate this alone.
