"The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination."— Carl Rogers
An informal chat to get a feel for how I work — share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and decide if you'd like to go ahead. No commitment.
Book now →A chance to explore in depth what has brought you to therapy, agree goals for our work together, and make sure I'm the right counsellor for you.

From the first phone call to our regular sessions together — here's how the process unfolds, at a pace guided by you.
I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation so you can get a feel for how I work and whether counselling feels like the right step for you. It's an informal chat where you can share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and decide if you'd like to go ahead.
If you choose to continue after our phone consultation, our first meeting will be an assessment session. This is a chance for me to gather some personal background information to provide context, and to explore in more depth what has brought you to therapy. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the counselling process.
The assessment also helps me ensure that I can meet your needs and consider the best approach for our work together. We'll talk about what you hope to gain from counselling and agree on some goals or expectations.
If you feel comfortable to continue with me, we can then agree on a way forward. I generally recommend weekly sessions at first, to help build momentum — but I'm happy to discuss alternative schedules.
Each session provides a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you can talk openly about whatever feels important. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported. Sessions can sometimes feel raw and emotional, but they can also bring relief, insight, and hope. The pace of our work will always be guided by your needs.
For some people, short-term counselling is enough to bring about meaningful change, while others benefit from longer-term work. In all cases, we'll review our progress regularly to make sure the goals we set remain helpful and relevant.
Ending therapy is a natural part of the process. When the time feels right, we'll review and celebrate your progress, consolidate what you've learned, and consider next steps — ensuring you leave feeling supported, confident, and clear about the positive steps you've taken.
Life can be unpredictable, and I understand that plans sometimes change. Please give at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full session fee.
Payment is by bank transfer, made in advance of each session. I'll share the details when we book your first appointment — no apps or accounts needed.
There's no catch. It's a 20-minute phone call with no commitment either way. It matters that you find the right counsellor — if that's not me, I'll happily point you towards other sources of support.
Life happens — just give me at least 48 hours' notice and we'll rearrange without charge. Cancellations with less notice are charged at the full session fee.
I generally recommend weekly sessions at first to build momentum, but I'm happy to discuss fortnightly or another rhythm that suits your life and budget.
The introductory session is already offered at a reduced fee. If cost is a barrier, please mention it during the free consultation — it's always worth a conversation.
Tell me which session you're interested in and I'll get back to you to arrange a time.
